About the event
The first Hunting and Habitats Festival fills two mountain villages with wildlife, hunting heritage and the flavour of rural Cypriot life. There are hands-on demonstrations of halloumi making, zivania distilling and wood-fired bread baking, alongside folk music, traditional dancing, a polyphonic choir, an archery display and nature documentaries. Walkers can join a guided historical trail, either an easy 4.5 km route or a moderate 5.8 km one. Children have their own programme of creative games, Survivor Games, activities from the Forestry Department and a small petting zoo of tame farm animals, and there is a corner of traditional Cypriot board games for everyone. It runs from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sunday, with a little shuttle bus doing the rounds. Admission is free.
