CINEMATIC MUSIC

About the event

Conducted by Yiannis Protopapas, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra sets off on a journey through film music. Nino Rota's scores for The Godfather, Amarcord and 8½, music that has moved audiences for generations, share the bill with Nikos Kypourgos's Sweet Suite. The suite is a tribute to Manos Hadjidakis, built on themes from nine of his film scores, among them Never on Sunday, The 300 Spartans and America America. Kypourgos keeps Hadjidakis's melodies intact while putting his own stamp on the form, harmony, counterpoint, rhythm and orchestration. The concert starts at 8.30pm, with tickets from €20 to €25 and concessions from €15 to €18.
