Concert: Pérgamo Ensemble & Lidia Vinyes-Curtis (mezzo-soprano)

Pérgamo Ensemble, one of Spain's most sought-after period groups, makes its Cyprus debut with the mezzo-soprano Lidia Vinyes-Curtis in a programme of Spanish Baroque. Winners of the Grand Jury Prize at the Gijón Early Music Competition, the ensemble has made its name reviving neglected works, and several pieces tonight were rediscovered by the players themselves. Alongside Scarlatti, Facco and Martín i Coll come works by José de Torres and José de Nebra that survived the fire at Madrid's Royal Alcázar in 1734. Vinyes-Curtis has sung Bach with Helmut Rilling and Beethoven under Gustavo Dudamel, and appeared at Teatro Real, Opéra de Lyon and the Liceu. The concert begins at 20:30.
