About the event
Two exhibitions curated by Hélène Reeb share the museum, both devoted to the printed image. Lithography and Its Evolution follows the technique that arrived in the late 18th century as the third way of making prints after woodcut and engraving, from single-stone prints coloured by stencil or brush to the first two-colour sheets and chromolithographs, then on to zinc and aluminium plates, photolithography, offset and monotypes. Delacroix, Daumier, Toulouse-Lautrec, Dimitrios Galanis, Alekos Fassianos and Panayiotis Tetsis are among the artists on show. The second exhibition is given over to ex-libris, the small bookplates pasted inside a front cover to mark a book's owner, tracing them from handwritten inscriptions and library stamps to tiny engravings with coats of arms, mottoes and symbolic scenes. Original Christmas and New Year cards and wedding invitations hang alongside. In winter the museum opens Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 5pm.
