Messages on Metal: A Timeless Dialogue with Cyprus

About the event

Messages on Metal brings a substantial part of the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, more than 11,000 coins strong, to Cyprus for the first time. On display are 136 coins: 110 from Alpha Bank, 23 from the museum's own holdings and three from the A. G. Leventis Gallery. The show is arranged in three sections, Transactions, Narration and Symbolism, tracing how coins were used, the stories and figures stamped on them, and what they said about power and identity over the centuries. Seen together, they place Cyprus firmly on the political, trading and cultural routes of the Eastern Mediterranean. Lectures, guided tours and activities for families with children run alongside. Doors are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 16.30, and the museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays.
