About the event
A family concert from the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra built around Miklós Rózsa's music for the 1942 film of The Jungle Book, performed as a suite for narrator and orchestra. Mowgli, raised among the animals, goes after the tiger Shere Khan, discovers a lost city and hidden treasure, saves his village and in the end chooses the jungle as home. The score has eighteen themes, one for each principal character, mixing Indian colour with the grand Hollywood symphonic manner. Petros Georkadjis tells the story, the mezzo-soprano Marilena Nisidi sings the lullaby for Mowgli and Kyriaki Kountouri is on the podium. There are two performances, at 4pm and 5.30pm, with tickets at €12 for all and free seats for the unemployed, those on the Guaranteed Minimum Income and disabled visitors if booked by email two working days in advance.
