About the event
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra brings Miklós Rózsa's score for the 1942 film of The Jungle Book to the stage, as a suite for narrator and orchestra. It follows Mowgli, the boy raised by the jungle, as he sets out to avenge himself on the tiger Shere Khan, stumbles on a lost city and its treasure and finally chooses the freedom of the wild. Rózsa gives each of the main characters a theme of their own, eighteen in all, blending Indian colours with full symphonic sweep. Petros Georkadjis narrates, the mezzo-soprano Marilena Nisidi sings Mowgli's lullaby and Kyriaki Kountouri conducts. The concert starts at 6pm and tickets are €12 for everyone, with free seats for the unemployed, those on the Guaranteed Minimum Income and disabled visitors, booked by email at least two working days ahead.
