The Weaver Who Wove Songs: a Cypriot Musical Fairy Tale at Xydadiko

About the event

The Weaver Who Wove Songs is a new Cypriot musical fairy tale by Korina Vasiliou, drawing on the imagery and folk wisdom of the island's tales and legends. Its mysterious Weaver makes songs rather than cloth or carpets: every coloured thread on her loom becomes a melody that the wind carries across Cyprus. One day the loom falls silent and the songs are lost, so she sets off on a long journey, meeting the Carob Tree, the Spring and the Wind. A little nightingale who remembers only three notes of the last song keeps her company. Narrator Nektarios Theodorou, soprano Andrea Sofokleous, Korina Vasiliou at the piano and Nataly Neophytou on oboe tell the story in words and music, with interactive moments for children. It starts at 11am and tickets are €10.
