Workshop for Families and Adults: “From Ancient Artifacts to Contemporary Art”

About the event

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation closes its Moments at Museum 26 series with a ceramics workshop run together with the Cyprus Association of Potters and Ceramists. Five makers, including a wheel thrower, a sculptor, two clay modellers and a specialist in ancient vase moulds and primitive kilns, open with a short tour of the Pierides Archaeological Museum, showing the pieces they will make so that everyone can pick an activity in advance. Participants then head to the museum's Education Room and work through three stations until their own piece is finished. Out in the open-air amphitheatre, meanwhile, a craftsman demonstrates the traditional way of making a vase mould and building a primitive kiln, and any visitor is welcome to watch. It starts at 11:00 and lasts two and a half hours. Taking part is free, but places are limited and must be booked by phone.
