For parentsThe Effect by Lucy Prebble at Satiriko TheatreSatiriko Theatre gives Lucy Prebble's The Effect its Cyprus premiere — the play she wrote for the National Theatre in London, winner of the Critics' Circle award for Best New Play. Connie and Tristan meet on a clinical trial for a new antidepressant and fall for one another — but is it love, or merely a side effect of the drug? Witty, humane and often darkly funny, it asks whether science that can change our minds can change our hearts as well. Directed by Evita Ioannou; ninety minutes without an interval, in Greek, with English surtitles at the 29 October performance. Discover & learnMessages on Metal: A Timeless Dialogue with CyprusMessages on Metal brings a substantial part of the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, more than 11,000 coins strong, to Cyprus for the first time. On display are 136 coins: 110 from Alpha Bank, 23 from the museum's own holdings and three from the A. G. Leventis Gallery. The show is arranged in three sections, Transactions, Narration and Symbolism, tracing how coins were used, the stories and figures stamped on them, and what they said about power and identity over the centuries. Seen together, they place Cyprus firmly on the political, trading and cultural routes of the Eastern Mediterranean. Lectures, guided tours and activities for families with children run alongside. Doors are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 16.30, and the museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays.16 Oct – 10 JanTue–Sun 10:00–16:30, closed MondaysNicosia, Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia
