About the event
Christina Drakos's solo show brings together expressive figurative paintings, worked in acrylic in her Paris studio and drawn solely from live models. The body is treated neither as portraiture nor as an ideal of beauty, but as a landscape of line, colour and rhythm, with bold brushwork and simplified forms that record what the artist felt as much as what she saw. The empty space around each figure pulls its weight too, leaving room for the viewer to finish the story. The title plays on a body, some body and somebody: every sitter is anonymous, yet each is unmistakably an individual. Part of the proceeds will go to the Sagapo Children's Foundation, which supports the education of underprivileged children. The gallery is open from Wednesday to Friday, 4pm to 7.30pm, and on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
