About the event

This comprehensive exhibition gathers work from across the long career of Nina Iacovou, the pioneering Cypriot sculptor whose practice spanned more than six decades. Ceramics, paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations and mixed-media pieces speak in her own distinctive language, sensitive yet powerful, and return again and again to the female form. Born in Famagusta in 1933, Iacovou was captivated by the island's ancient pottery and the anthropomorphic koukkoumara, and after 1974 made her home and studio in Larnaca; the show traces her bond with Cypriot earth, clay and stone and with the memory of place. A publication of sketches, drawings and handwritten notes from her archive accompanies the exhibition. It runs until 6 May 2027 and is open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
